Get checked

I recently did a humility heart challenge test and found that I failed miserably. Don’t even ask me about it. I am ashamed as is. I have some “self” shedding to do. I am a work in progress, a diamond in the rough. Well, to be honest, aren’t we all? If you took that test, you’d probably find yourself in my position; reflecting, examining, realizing how far you are from the mark, and pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling.

The problem with most of us is that we don’t take the time to evaluate self. One author said that “we must know our real condition, or we shall not feel our need for Christ’s help”. We must understand the danger, or we shall not flee to the refuge. We must feel the pain of our wounds or we should not desire healing.”

Do you recognize your condition? When was the last time you had that annual, monthly, weekly, daily check-up with God? Just like we get our annual physical exams, our spiritual lives also need a checkup. When last have you gotten that heart felt brokenness and cried out as Paul did--"O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?"

To be honest, there’s no way you could be reading the Bible and not stop to evaluate yourself. After all, it is a mirror; an auto spiritual condition checker.

Perhaps you are in good spiritual condition, or maybe you’ve never even thought about it. Hey, you probably don’t even have time for that.

Regardless of our condition or diagnosis, today, I want to encourage you to get your spiritual condition “annual”. Get diagnosed by the word of God, listen to the voice of the Master Physician and allow the Holy Spirit to inject your mind with the right amount of dosages to nurse you into a satisfactory spiritual condition.

I too, had done some self examination, and to tell you the truth…..like Isaiah, I cried. “Woe is me! For I am undone”. I realized that I am not worthy to be called joint heir of the Kingdom, but praise be to God, when we’re honest with him He is able to make us new in His righteousness. Praise God!

There are many times when we fail because of self we need to be reminded that because we have God on our side he will fight our battles and be over comers. Self is one of the greatest battles we face , but through Christ we can overcome any obstacle. Thanks be to God.
Joseph Archer This a call to check out the real me. As the physical eye looks out, we train the spiritual eyes to look in constantly. If we look in regularly, there will be so much to see and deal with that there will be no time left to look out.
