Is Love Blind?

Illustration

Howdy friends,

I hate to be the one to say this, but you’ve been lied to!
Yep –for all your life, you’ve been told that love is blind. It was Geoffrey Chaucer who first introduced the proverb to us. There’s much I can say on that, but for today, I’ll park it right here; Love is not blind.

Love is the very truest sight that we possess. It is our ability to see beyond what appears on the outside and see what God sees within each and every one of us. But here’s the thing that hits this sarcastic proverb out of the ball park; GOD IS LOVE! And I’ll tell you this, I see His love every single second; and trust me, there’s nothing invisible about His love.

Ok – That’s just my opinion. So let me give you the facts. The Bible opposes the view that love is blind. Take 1 Corinthians 13, for example; it says a lot about love, and blind wasn’t a description. So the next time you’re trying to convince someone (child, spouse, neighbor, friend) of your love, check your visibility; because love is patient, kind, does not envy or boast, it is not proud nor show dishonor of others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.

Love is many things, but it is not blind.
